چکیده

The formation of reaction layers between corundum‐based (Al 2 O 3 + C) filter materials covered with functional Al C coatings having different carbon contents and molten steel 42CrMo4 is investigated at the temperature 1600 °C. Within first 60 s, an amorphous layer formed interface original surface steel. This consists mainly Fe small, varying amounts Si. After a longer contact time (120 s), nanocrystalline phases, which are identified as iron‐based oxides, within this interlayer. 5 min, replaced by dense corundum layer, on thin platelets attached. its transformation to corundum, effect content in coating nucleation growth discussed. experiments carried out spark plasma sintering device avoid liquid metal convection immersion tests casting simulator obtain relevant information about filtering process.

The Effect of Siliconizing and Borosiliconizing Processes on Microstructure and Morphology of Carbon Steel Surface Layers

A study for optimizing of siliconizing and borosiliconizing processes on carbon steels has been carried out. The process parameters, i.e, time and powder mixture, were considered for optimization of the case depth, surface quality and the hardness profile. Time and temperature of the processes were 4 hr and 950˚C, respectively. Powder mixture in siliconizing process was 2.5% ferrosilicon, 2.5%...

Effect of Aluminum on Microstructure and Thickness of Galvanized Layers on Low Carbon silicon-Free Steel

In hot dip galvanizing, several parameters such as chemical composition of coating bath, immersion time and surface roughness of specimens could affect microstructure and properties of coating. In this article, the effect of aluminum content, immersion time and surface roughness on structure and properties of alloy layers have been investigated. Specimens of low carbon silicon-free steel with d...

Liquid Metal Corrosion of 316L Stainless Steel, 410 Stainless Steel, and 1015 Carbon Steel in a Molten Zinc Bath

Corrosion tests of 1015 low-carbon steel and two stainless steels (410 and 316L) were conducted in a pure zinc bath (99.98 wt pct Zn) in order to better understand the reaction mechanisms that occur during the degradation of submerged hardware at industrial general (batch) galvanizing operations. Through this testing, it was found that, in general, 316L stainless steel showed the best dissoluti...

Fracture Analysis of a FGM Strip Containing Multiple Interface Cracks Sandwiched between Two Homogeneous Layers

A FGM layer sandwiched between two isotropic layers weakened by several interface cracks under antiplane loading is studied. This paper examines the modelling of cracks by distribution of strain nuclei along crack lines. In this investigation, the Volterra-type screw dislocation employed between FGM and an elastic layer. To solve the dislocation problem, the complex Fourier transform is applied...
